“Pregnancy is the perfect time to get in touch with your body and there’s no better way to do so than with a mind/body workout such as yoga” National Childbirth TrustThe classes focus on the breath and breathing techniques, bringing peace and calm and ‘tools’ for use during the birthing process. Safe yoga postures are practised for the relief of pain and tension in the back, the wrists, shoulders and swollen joints. Adaptations for conditions such as pelvic girdle disorder, carpal tunnel, heartburn and reflux are provided as well as awareness of the pelvic floor. Each class is designed to meet the needs of individual students and finishes with a long and deep relaxation (yoga nidra) and some quiet time with the baby. Students say they sleep well during the night following Pregnancy Yoga. These classes also provide an opportunity to meet and share experiences with others. Support and friendship are important by-products of Pregnancy Yoga.
